DuPont Flexo Printing Plate Preparing Laboratory

In this laboratory, which was established in 2006 with a cooperation agreement between DuPont and Marmara University, flexo printing plates could be prepared with computer to plate system. The last technological system, the Cyrel-Fast system, which was developed by DuPont, hasn’t been using solvent to prepare plates, as is the conventional system. There is a chassis of plate exposure, a computer to plate system, a Cyrel Fast development machine, and a DuPont Cromalin Largo digital proofing system in the laboratory. All computers in this laboratory have Esko Graphics, which have all the software concerning flexo printing. Some of this software is set up on some Macintosh computers in the pre-press laboratory and this software’s used for the education of students. According to the agreement with DuPont, DuPont will send two students and one staff to their Center for education in Germany every two years. From time to time DuPont will call some experts and organize a seminar about flexo printing for staff and students. DuPont will bridge the Flexographic Technical Association, with its center located in Germany, and our Printing Technologies department. In this laboratory, consumable materials cost and maintenance cost of machines will belong to DuPont. Our Printing Technologies department will make demos about devices in this laboratory for DuPont’s potential customers and our department will give more importance to flexo printing in the instructional program. This laboratory will be used concerning the flexo printing class.
